A recent study from the international research firm, Aberdeen Group, found that in the next 12 months the top strategic action planned by nearly 70% of companies they surveyed is the adoption or improvement of technology to automate their expense management process.

The two biggest reasons for companies wanting to improve their expense reporting process, is first to improve compliance and second that the costs to process reports are too high. The Aberdeen Group study found that companies who use automated expense management systems spend an average of $15 to process a single report while those using manual systems spend, on average, more than double at $31 per report.
